Floods Cause Major Power Outage in Kalat as Electricity Poles Collapse

Kalat:Nearly 30 11KV electricity poles in Kalat’s rural areas have collapsed due to floodwaters, leading to widespread power outages. The floods have affected areas including Dast Maghazai, Zawah Nadi, and the Necharah Levies Checkpost.

The collapse of the poles has resulted in power cuts to numerous rural areas of Kalat, plunging them into darkness. More than 50 agricultural tube wells have been impacted, raising concerns about severe water shortages. The power disruption is expected to harm orchards and crops, potentially leading to millions of rupees in losses for farmers. There is also a risk of theft of the fallen electric wires.

In response to the severe flooding caused by heavy rains in Kalat city and its rural areas, multiple 11KV poles have fallen into the floodwaters, affecting the Hassan Lalu Feeder, Ali Dast, Serkheen, Necharah, and Pandaran feeders. The resulting outages have led to significant disruptions in water supply for irrigation and agricultural activities, with farmers facing substantial financial losses due to crop damage.

The affected areas are now completely dark, creating additional challenges for the local population. The community is urging KESCO officials to take immediate action for the repair and restoration of the damaged poles and feeders to restore electricity and mitigate the ongoing difficulties.
