Flash Floods Cause Devastation, Urgent Relief Demanded

Bela: Torrential rains have wreaked havoc in several areas, submerging Kalat River and causing significant damage across various regions. According to reports, flash floods in Kalat River overnight resulted in widespread destruction, with floodwaters entering homes, washing away domestic belongings, and severely affecting the cotton crop. Local landlords have reportedly incurred losses amounting to millions of rupees due to the extensive damage to the cotton harvest.

The floods have also caused extensive damage in Gooth Myar Kagh, Gooth Ismailani, and Gooth Kamacha, resulting in roads being rendered impassable and cutting off ground communication with the city. Agricultural lands have been inundated, exacerbating the plight of farmers already grappling with the aftermath of the calamity.

Affected residents are in urgent need of assistance and relief efforts. They have appealed to Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sardar Faraz Bugti, Member of Provincial Assembly Nawabzada Mir Zarin Khan Mengal, Deputy Commissioner Lasbela, and Hamira Baloch to take immediate steps for the prompt rehabilitation of the affected population. They have emphasized the necessity for immediate relief operations and urgent measures to restore Kamacha Ismailani Road.

The victims of last year’s floods are still awaiting government assistance and recovery, compounding the urgency of the current situation.
