Fire Breaks Out in Gas Line at Korangi Creek, Karachi; Operations Ongoing

A fire broke out in a gas line during work at a private housing society in the Korangi Creek area of Karachi. The blaze, located near Korangi Crossing, has been raging for over five hours, and despite efforts, fire fighters have been unable to bring it under control.
Fire brigade officials have stated that the fire is likely to have originated from the gas line, and it is currently categorized as a third-degree fire. To contain the fire, six fire tenders have been deployed from various parts of the city, and foam is being used due to the intensity of the flames.
According to Fire Officer Mohammad Zafar, the situation is mysterious as they are unsure which line the fire has originated from. While water was initially being used to extinguish the flames, it was being blown back by the strong heat. The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) staff has also arrived at the scene.
Zafar further emphasized that the fire is emerging from a pit, which needs to be sealed with soil. He suggested that a dumper or helicopter could be used to drop soil and extinguish the flames.
The fire and the billowing smoke can be seen from various areas, including Defence Phase 8.
Police confirmed that the fire originated from the gas pipeline, caused by damage to the line during water boring operations.
