Final Date for Submitting ICC Champions Trophy Initial Squad Today
Lahore:The deadline for submitting the initial squad for the ICC Champions Trophy is today.
According to the established procedure for ICC events, teams are required to submit their squad names at least one month before the start of the event’s sport period. The sport period for the ICC Champions Trophy will begin on February 12.
Sources reveal that Pakistan will send their squad names to the ICC in accordance with the procedure; however, the announcement of the initial squad is not expected at this stage.
According to the sources, the final decision regarding the Champions Trophy squad will depend on the fitness of Saeem Ayub. The squad will be finalized once a decision about Saeem Ayub is made.
The sources further mentioned that the squad could be finalized by February 11, after which ICC approval will be required.
Before the Champions Trophy, Pakistan is set to play in the Triangular Series. The squad for the Triangular Series, which includes a match against South Africa, is expected to remain largely unchanged, with Fakhre Zaman likely to be given an opportunity.
Saeem Ayub’s participation in the Champions Trophy is contingent upon his fitness, and the team selected for the Triangular Series will be the same one representing Pakistan in the Champions Trophy.
