FIA Reports Over 600,000 Cybercrime Complaints in the Last 5 Years
ISLAMABAD:The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has released a detailed report on cybercrime incidents, shedding light on the rising trend of digital crimes in Pakistan over the past five years. According to the report, the FIA received nearly 663,000 complaints related to cybercrimes during this period.
The agency conducted 73,825 inquiries to further investigate these cases, leading to the registration of 5,713 formal cases after in-depth probes. The report indicates that the majority of these complaints involved activities such as online fraud, hacking, cyberbullying, and other forms of digital abuse.
The FIA also highlighted its law enforcement efforts, revealing that over 7,000 individuals were arrested in connection with cybercrime activities. Furthermore, the report stated that 222 individuals were convicted and sentenced for their involvement in various cybercrime offenses.
The findings underscore the increasing threat of cybercrime in the country and the FIA’s ongoing efforts to combat digital criminal activities.
