FIA Arrests Five Individuals for Creating Fake Video of Maryam Nawaz and Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed

Islamabad:The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested five individuals for creating a fake video of Maryam Nawaz meeting Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, the President of the United Arab Emirates, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and circulating it on social media.
The FIA’s Cyber Crime Cell apprehended the suspects from Faisalabad, Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan.
According to sources, there is a possibility of more arrests, and the scope of the investigation is being expanded. The accused will be charged under the Cyber Crime Act.
FIA sources said the operation began following a complaint by Shahid Sharif in Faisalabad, which led to the filing of case number 7/24 against the suspect, Shehzad Munir. The suspect is accused of using AI to create and share offensive content about foreign dignitaries on social media.
Investigations revealed that the purpose of the fake video was to damage diplomatic relations between Pakistan and the UAE and to tarnish the reputation of Pakistani elites and political figures.
The FIA has obtained a technical report on the creation and viral spread of the AI-generated content, which has helped identify the suspects and clarify the course of action.
FIA officials have stated that investigations are ongoing, and further action will be taken based on additional evidence.
