Islamabad / Quetta:A delegation from the Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PCMEA), led by Senior Vice Chairman Osman Ashraf, including Abdul Latif Malik, Major (Retd) Akhtar Nazir, and Shahid Hassan Sheikh, held separate meetings with Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan and Minister of State for Treasury Ali Pervez Malik to express concerns over recent tax regime changes affecting exporters and challenges facing the handmade carpet industry.
The delegation highlighted issues related to the handmade carpet industry, reasons for declining exports, and the upcoming International Carpet Exhibition scheduled for October in Pakistan. They emphasized the critical role of exporters in the national economy and urged the government to consider their demands seriously.
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan acknowledged the pivotal role of exporters in Pakistan’s economy, stressing that increasing exports is crucial for the country’s development. He assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to addressing issues faced by stakeholders, including stakeholders in the carpet industry.
Minister of State for Treasury Ali Pervez Malik expressed satisfaction over the government’s efforts to promote industry through various initiatives and assured support for the effective promotion of Pakistani handmade carpets at the upcoming mega event in October.
