Islamabad:Federal Minister for Safron, Engineer Amir Muqam, expressed deep concern over the alarming situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, describing it as a “problematic province” plagued by rampant corruption and mismanagement.
In a recent speech, Muqam stated that the ongoing issues in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa not only affect the province but also have repercussions for the entire country. He highlighted the pervasive insecurity, particularly in southern districts where residents fear going outside after sunset due to rising terrorism and lawlessness.
He pointed out that the province’s debts are increasing daily, and the overall law and order situation remains dire. Reports of attacks on police stations, police convoys, and diplomatic missions further emphasize the escalating violence.
Muqam criticized the outcomes of the 18th Amendment, which granted more powers to the provinces, stating that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has failed to utilize these powers effectively. He lamented that ministers in the province are engaged in internal conflicts over their share of corrupt practices.
Additionally, he highlighted the dire state of healthcare, where hospitals lack essential medicines and facilities, and the educational sector suffers from a shortage of teachers and administrative issues within universities and colleges. He expressed his disappointment over the current conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that it is a source of great distress.
