Federal Government to Provide Free Electric Motorbikes to Top 120 Federal Board Students as Part of Eco-Friendly Initiative
Islamabad:The **federal government** has announced a new initiative to provide **free electric motorbikes** to the top 120 students of the Federal Board. The move is part of the government’s efforts to promote **eco-friendly travel** and take a significant step towards the adoption of **electric vehicles (EVs)** in the country.
The decision was made during the **fourth meeting on the Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy**, chaired by **Federal Minister for Industry and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain**. The meeting also reviewed progress on the establishment of **40 EV charging stations** along motorways and national highways.
During the session, the minister emphasized the importance of equipping all **petrol pumps in the capital** with EV charging stations, a move that would facilitate the widespread adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
In addition to this initiative, the government plans to provide **39,000 electric motorbikes** and **1,900 electric rickshaws** to the public at affordable loan rates. This will allow a large section of the population to access **sustainable travel options** that are both eco-friendly and affordable.
Rana Tanveer Hussain emphasized that to ensure transparency in the distribution process, the entire procedure will be **digitized**. This aligns with **Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision** to transform Islamabad into a model city.
The federal minister confirmed that the **official announcement** of the electric vehicle policy will be made soon. The overall aim of these measures is to promote **environmentally friendly transportation** across the country while also encouraging **sustainable urban development**.
