Federal Government to Introduce New Performance-Based System for Bureaucracy

Islamabad:The federal government has decided to adopt new standards to improve the performance of the bureaucracy, including rewarding high-performing officers with bonuses and promotions.

Under the new performance evaluation system, officers’ annual reports (PERS) will be linked to financial incentives, such as bonuses and promotions. Selection of officers will be based on exceptional performance, ensuring a merit-based and transparent process. The “reward system” for high performers, offering bonuses and promotions in return for exceptional work, is already in the process of being implemented.

The goal of this new system is to motivate high-performing officers, ultimately improving the overall efficiency of the federal government and the Secretariat. A special committee, led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, has been tasked with preparing recommendations for the new system.
