Federal Government Approves Amendments to NADRA National Identity Card Laws for Special Individuals

The federal government has approved amendments to the NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) national identity card laws, allowing for the issuance of specially designed ID cards for individuals with disabilities.

According to media reports, the new laws will enable the issuance of lifetime identity cards for people using wheelchairs, and the cards will feature a distinct wheelchair logo. Additionally, children of special individuals will have a similar wheelchair logo on their birth certificates.

The amendments also cover individuals who donate organs. Organ donors will be granted a special ID card featuring both the wheelchair and donor logos, which will be issued for life. Registration with the relevant federal or provincial authorities is necessary for both the registration of special individuals and organ donors.

The new rules will come into effect once the official notification is published in the upcoming Gazette. This step is part of the government’s efforts to ensure better accessibility and recognition for special individuals in the country.
