Federal Government Announces Relief for Agricultural Tube Wells and Low-Usage Electricity Consumers

The federal government has announced good news for agricultural tube wells and electricity consumers using up to 300 units per month, with plans to provide significant relief in the form of fuel adjustment reductions.

According to media reports, officials from the Power Division revealed that agricultural tube wells and consumers using 300 units or less of electricity each month will benefit from a reduction in monthly fuel adjustment charges.

The Power Division clarified that this relief had been halted for consumers using 300 units of electricity per month since June 2015, and for agricultural tube wells, the fuel adjustment relief was discontinued in December 2010. However, steps are now being taken to reinstate the relief.

Officials further stated that they have written to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to grant relief to consumers.

The government is actively working on providing relief to the public, who have been burdened with high electricity bills, and is considering measures to reduce electricity prices. In line with this, the government is working on plans to lower electricity prices by 8 to 10 rupees per unit in the upcoming summer season.
