Federal Cabinet Approves Tariff Review for 8 More IPPs

Islamabad: The Federal Cabinet has approved the tariff review for eight more Independent Power Producers (IPPs). The decision was made during a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
According to sources, the approved IPPs include JDW, Chiniot Power, Hamza Sugar, and Al-Muiz Power Plant. Additionally, tariff reviews were also approved for Industry, Thal Industries, and Chanar Energy.
The approval was based on the recommendations of a special task force formed to review the IPPs’ agreements. The review is expected to result in savings of around PKR 200 billion for the national exchequer.
It is worth mentioning that earlier, the Federal Cabinet had already approved the cancellation of agreements with five other IPPs as part of efforts to streamline the power sector.
