Federal and Provincial Officials Discuss Rehabilitation Projects for Flood-Affected Areas in Balochistan

Quetta: Under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Asad, a meeting was held regarding rehabilitation projects for flood-affected areas in Balochistan. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti participated via video link, expressing gratitude to the federal government for grants aimed at revitalizing devastated regions.

Highlighting the severe damage caused by floods in 2010 and 2022 across Balochistan, Chief Minister Bugti emphasized the necessity of establishing a project office in Quetta for effective implementation of rehabilitation initiatives. He proposed the inclusion of Balochistan’s Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary for Development in a committee to review project progress.

Bugti underscored the significance of the Kechi Canal project as a vital agricultural initiative for the province, urging prompt convening of a session to assess its advancement. Federal Minister Asad promptly directed relevant authorities to arrange a meeting regarding Kechi Canal’s progress, as suggested by Chief Minister Bugti.

Bugti further emphasized that timely completion and effective implementation of federal PSDP projects in Balochistan will not only strengthen transportation links but also have positive impacts on overall development, infrastructure, and prosperity in the province. He stressed the essential cooperation of the federal government to achieve these goals.

The meeting, attended via video link by Balochistan’s Chief Secretary Shakeel Qadir Khan, Additional Chief Secretary for Development Hafiz Abdul Basit, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Omar Zarkoon, and Secretary Finance Babar Khan, concluded with directives for immediate action on developmental projects to benefit the province.
