Fawad Chaudhry Urges Imran Khan and PTI to Focus on Issues, Not Individuals, in Bid to Reduce Tensions with Military

Islamabad:Former Federal Minister **Fawad Chaudhry** has revealed that he advised **Imran Khan**, the founding leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), to focus on issues rather than individuals in order to navigate the current political landscape. In an interview with senior journalist **Ansar Abbasi**, Fawad Chaudhry shared details of his recent meeting with Imran Khan at **Adiala Jail** on Monday, during which he urged the PTI chairman to lower the political temperature concerning the military and its leadership.

### Need to Decrease Tensions with the Army
Chaudhry emphasized the importance of **reducing tensions** with the Pakistan Army and its top leadership in order for PTI to regain a legitimate space in the political arena. He argued that improving relations with the military would allow the party to continue functioning without unnecessary hurdles.

### Advice on Foreign Accounts
In addition to his advice on de-escalating military tensions, Fawad Chaudhry also suggested that Imran Khan should take control of his foreign **’X account’** back into Pakistan. According to Chaudhry, the account was being used to run anti-military campaigns and was exacerbating the already existing strain between PTI and the establishment.

### Senior PTI Leaders Share the Same Concerns
Chaudhry further claimed that many senior PTI leaders also agree with the need for Khan to regain control over his foreign account, which has been used for aggressive social media campaigns against the military. He mentioned that these leaders were concerned about the impact of such content on the party’s public image.

### Lack of Courage Among PTI Leaders
Fawad Chaudhry pointed out the lack of courage among PTI leaders who, out of fear of possible backlash on social media, do not speak out against the growing tensions with the military. He stated that these leaders are unwilling to confront Imran Khan directly and ask him to cease attacks on the army and its leadership.

### Positive Response from Imran Khan Expected
Despite the challenges, Fawad Chaudhry expressed confidence that Imran Khan would respond positively to his advice. He believes that bringing PTI back to mainstream politics will require this shift in approach.

### Upcoming Meeting on December 19
Chaudhry revealed that he would meet Imran Khan again on **December 19**, continuing his efforts to convince the PTI leader to steer the party away from aggressive rhetoric and military hostility. He emphasized that it was important for PTI’s social media platforms to distance themselves from anti-military propaganda being pushed by the party’s critics, both locally and internationally.

### A Call for Unity Within PTI
Before his meeting with Khan, Fawad Chaudhry had made a public statement on **December 2** through **X** (formerly Twitter), urging PTI leaders to distance themselves from the anti-military narrative. He expressed concern that continued hostility towards the military would harm the party’s long-term prospects.

Fawad Chaudhry’s remarks highlight the ongoing internal debate within PTI about its strategy going forward, particularly regarding its relationship with the military and the direction of its political discourse. The next few weeks may determine whether these suggested changes are adopted, potentially altering the course of PTI’s political trajectory.
