Lahore: Fawad Chaudhry has voiced concern over discussions aimed at intimidating judges with the mention of martial law. Speaking to the media in Lahore, he highlighted the perceived threat to Maryam Nawaz, suggesting that her seat could be in jeopardy if the open-ballot reform under Article 45-A is implemented. “It is alarming that there are efforts to intimidate judges with talks of martial law,” he emphasized.
Chaudhry further commented favorably on the Election Commission’s decision not to review the 45-A amendment, urging that Chief Justice Lahore’s decision should also be respected regarding elections. He stressed that political cases should be heard by active-service judges, not retired justices.
He also praised Lahore High Court Chief Justice’s significant decision not to alter the tribunals, asserting that it was crucial for the Chief Justice to stand by his judges.
