Fatal Bus Accident in Karachi Leaves Two Dead and 13 Injured

Karachi: A tragic traffic accident occurred in the city on Monday morning when a speeding bus lost control while descending a hill near the Site Area’s Bewani Chali. The bus ran over several motorcyclists and pedestrians, resulting in two deaths and 13 serious injuries, including five women.
The incident took place as the bus was transporting garment factory workers from Khyber Chowk to Bewani Chali. The bus, descending at high speed, struck more than five motorcycles and pedestrians, causing two people to die at the scene. The identity of one of the deceased, identified as 45-year-old Talib son of Abdul Qudoos, was confirmed, while the other deceased, also 45 years old, remains unidentified.
The injured include 30-year-old Qaiser Ali son of Akhtar Ali, 28-year-old Asif son of Mengal, 22-year-old Mazamil son of Abdul Qudoos, 24-year-old Wajahat son of Naeem Sultan, 22-year-old Fazila wife of Waqas, 25-year-old Rehan son of Ramadan, 60-year-old Ramadan son of Roshan, 30-year-old Maria, 35-year-old Nafeesa wife of Asghar Ali, 23-year-old Arooba daughter of Shamshad, 50-year-old Samina, 35-year-old Junaid son of Zubair Khan, and 35-year-old Syed Razi son of Rais.
According to police officials, the accident occurred when the bus, heading towards Bewani Chali, collided with multiple motorcycles and pedestrians due to brake failure. Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was traveling at an excessive speed, and the road conditions, worsened by recent rains, contributed to the accident. The road was poorly maintained with potholes, which slowed the motorcyclists’ speeds and made them more vulnerable to the oncoming bus.
The bus driver fled the scene, and a search is underway to locate him. Local residents have called for immediate repairs to the damaged roads and better regulation of bus drivers to prevent such accidents in the future.
