Famous Pakistani Comedian Javed Kodu Passes Away at 63, Leaving Behind a Legacy of Laughter

LAHORE: Famous Pakistani comedian and actor Javed Kodu, known for his remarkable contribution to the entertainment industry, passed away on April 12, 2025, after battling a prolonged illness. He was 63 years old. Javed Kodu’s death marks the end of an era in the Pakistani entertainment scene. Over his illustrious 47-year career, Kodu graced over 150 films, television dramas, and stage performances, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.
His most popular works include Aashiyana, Aank Wala Jin, Jadoo Nagr, Paggri Sambhal Jatta, Hero, Boxer, and Desan Da Raja, among many others. Kodu’s unique blend of humor and acting earned him widespread admiration and a dedicated fanbase across Pakistan.
Kodu’s eldest son, Tayyab Javed, emotionally shared the last moments of his father’s life. “He had already told me that this would be his last Eid,” Tayyab said, recalling the final days of his father. “His blood pressure suddenly dropped around 9 PM, and despite being admitted to Shalimar Hospital for emergency treatment, it didn’t stabilize. We took him back home, but he began having difficulty breathing again. Sadly, he couldn’t recover.”
Tayyab also spoke about the strong bond he shared with his father. “He always taught me to take care of the family. He loved people deeply, and I am amazed at his courage in fighting illness. He always wanted to meet people, but no one visited him in his last days. We never needed financial help from anyone—he was a complete father. My prayer is that everyone gets a father like him.”
The news of Javed Kodu’s death deeply saddened his fans and peers. Several prominent personalities from the entertainment industry attended his funeral prayers, including Kashif Mehmood, Aurangzeb Laghari, Afzal Khan, Naseem Vicky, and Saleem Khawaja, among others.
On social media, fans and fellow artists paid tribute to Javed Kodu, praising his acting talents and his ability to bring joy to audiences with his humor. His unique presence, small stature, and larger-than-life talent have left an indelible mark on the entertainment world.
