Families of Missing Bolan Residents Threaten Protest if Loved Ones Are Not Released in a Week

Quetta:The families of the missing individuals, Mir Zaman Smalani and Ahmad Nawaz Smalani from Bolan, have appealed to state authorities to bring their loved ones back within a week. If not, they have threatened to block the Bolan National Highway at Mach, holding the relevant authorities responsible for any ensuing situation.
This statement was made during a press conference at the protest camp on Court Road, where the families of the missing persons, along with prominent leaders of the *Voice for Missing Persons* such as Huran Baloch and Mama Qadir Baloch, expressed their deep concerns.
According to the relatives, Mir Zaman Smalani, along with his uncle Ahmad Nawaz Smalani and cousin Sanaullah Bangalzai, was on his way to Quetta on February 4, 2024. They were stopped at Degari Cross, where Ahmad Nawaz Smalani and Sanaullah Bangalzai were taken out of the vehicle. Their mobiles and cash were seized, and after 2-3 hours, they were reportedly disappeared at an unknown location. Sanaullah Bangalzai was released two days later on the main highway in Sibi, but Mir Zaman and Ahmad Nawaz Smalani remain missing.
It has now been 14 months since their disappearance, and the families are deeply concerned as there has been no information about their whereabouts. They have sought help from the *Voice for Missing Persons* and submitted all relevant records to the commission dealing with missing individuals, but no hearings have been held and no formal case has been registered yet. Despite the commission’s directive, the Levies Station in Dast refused to file an FIR.
The families expressed their frustration and disappointment with both the state institutions and the commission’s inability to take action, forcing them to consider protest as the only remaining option. They made it clear that if their loved ones are not released within a week, they will block the Bolan National Highway at Mach, and the authorities will be held responsible for any consequences.
