Extra 5 Marks for Students: Grace Marks and Passing Marks Raised for Matric and Intermediate Exams

Islamabad: In a significant change to the grading system, the Inter-Board Coordination Committee (IBCC) has increased the grace marks from three to five, which has also resulted in an increase in the passing marks from 33 to 40.
According to the IBCC, teachers can now provide up to five grace marks to students in order to help them achieve the 40 marks required to pass, compared to the previous system where only three grace marks were allowed.
This new policy will be applicable to the results of matriculation and intermediate exams starting in 2025 across the country.
Grace marks can be provided for a maximum of two subjects. However, if a student fails in a third subject, the teacher will not be permitted to grant additional marks.
