Extended Physical Remand for Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi in New Toosha Khana Reference

Islamabad: Imran Khan, the founding chairman of PTI, and his spouse Bushra Bibi faced an extension in their physical remand in the new Toosha Khana reference. Their hearing took place in Adiala Jail, where Barrister Salman Safdar, counsel for the accused, presented arguments against the extension of physical remand.
During the hearing, NAB’s Prosecutor General Sardar Mazhar Abbas and NAB’s Deputy Director Investigation Mohsin Haroon appeared before the court. Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were also present in the courtroom during the proceedings. Tensions rose as Prosecutor General NAB exchanged harsh words with PTI chairman Imran Khan.
Bushra Bibi also confronted alongside Imran Khan and remarked to the judge, “You may decide as you wish; I have left my decision to Allah.” She further questioned, “Don’t you see the position I hold? What is NAB doing? We face continuous injustice. NAB stands on one side; we stand on the other. NAB files one false case after another.”
Imran Khan defended, stating, “My wife has no connection with Toosha Khana. Why is she being punished? She was not in any public office when I was Prime Minister. NAB is conscienceless; pay them money, call it what you want.”
The NAB Prosecutor General took offense at being called conscienceless and retorted, “Do not get personal with me; discuss the case. I have never discussed your character until today. Buy me a full dinner set worth Rs. 30,000 from Raja Bazaar.”
Following the exchange of bitter words, the court adjourned the hearing temporarily. When the hearing resumed, Imran Khan apologized to Sardar Mazhar Abbas, which was accepted by Abbas.
Subsequently, Judge Mohammad Ali Warraich postponed the hearing of the new Toosha Khana reference until August 8 and extended the physical remand of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi by another 10 days.
