Expected Dates for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in Pakistan for 2025

Islamabad: The expected dates for the start of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in Pakistan for the year 2025 have been revealed. With the beginning of the Islamic month of Rajab, preparations for the holy month of Ramadan are already underway across the country.
The start of Islamic months is dependent on the sighting of the moon, although astronomers predict the dates well in advance. According to experts, the moon for Ramadan is expected to be sighted on February 28 or March 1, 2025. Consequently, the first day of Ramadan would likely fall on either March 1 or March 2.
As for Eid al-Fitr, the moon is expected to be sighted on March 29 or March 30. Therefore, Eid al-Fitr could be celebrated on either March 30 or March 31, 2025.
The official announcement of the moon sighting and the exact dates for the start of Ramadan and Eid will be made by Pakistan’s Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee.
Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, considered sacred by Muslims worldwide. During this month, Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, refraining from food and drink as an act of devotion to Allah. Eid al-Fitr, the festival that marks the end of Ramadan, is regarded as a reward from Allah for those who have observed the fasts.
