Ensuring the Safety of Chinese Nationals and Projects is Our Top Priority: Interior Minister

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that ensuring the safety of Chinese nationals and projects is the government’s top priority. He expressed full agreement with China’s vision of integrating development with security.
During a meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan, Jiang Zaidong, at the Chinese Embassy, the Interior Minister reiterated that comprehensive measures are being taken to enhance the security of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects. He assured that security arrangements are being strengthened to guarantee a safe and peaceful environment for Chinese citizens in Pakistan.
Naqvi also addressed the recent incident in Karachi, in which two Chinese nationals were injured due to firing by a security guard, stating that those responsible will be brought to justice. He expressed condolences over the incident, extending heartfelt sympathy to the injured Chinese nationals and their families. The minister assured the ambassador that progress is being made in the investigation and expressed solidarity with the Chinese government and the victims’ families.
The two leaders also discussed future strategies to prevent such incidents, agreeing to work together on a joint approach to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens and projects in Pakistan.
Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, in response, commended the continued growth of Pakistan-China relations and emphasized the importance of a secure and stable environment for further cooperation. He confirmed China’s readiness to enhance bilateral security cooperation and support the strengthening of Pakistan’s security institutions.
The ambassador also thanked the Interior Minister for the excellent arrangements made for the Chinese Prime Minister’s visit to Pakistan and inquired about the health of President Asif Ali Zardari, wishing him a swift recovery. Jiang shared that Chinese President Xi Jinping had sent a letter to President Zardari, conveying his best wishes.
The meeting was also attended by the Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Interior and senior officials from the Chinese Embassy.
