Elon Musk Responds to Pakistan’s Starlink Internet Service Approval
Islamabad:Elon Musk**, CEO of **Tesla** and **SpaceX**, has reacted to the Pakistani government’s decision to approve **Starlink** internet services in the country. In response to a welcoming message from a Pakistani social media user, Musk stated that **SpaceX** is “waiting for the official approval” from the government of Pakistan to launch the **Starlink** service in the region.
This response follows discussions within Pakistan’s **Senate Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecom** last month. **Shaza Fatima**, the **Minister of State for Information Technology**, had confirmed that the government is actively working to bring **Starlink** to Pakistan.
It is noteworthy that **Starlink**, the satellite internet company owned by **Elon Musk**, had previously visited Pakistan three years ago. During this visit, a delegation from **Starlink** met with **Amin Ul Haque**, the then **Federal Minister for Information Technology**. At that time, Haque had highlighted the significant benefits of bringing **Starlink** to Pakistan, especially for remote areas where internet connectivity was either unavailable or extremely slow. He mentioned that the project would not only provide internet to underserved regions but also improve broadband access for **40,000 schools** and **businesses** across the country.
Currently, **Starlink** operates a network of **6,764 satellites** in **low Earth orbit**, of which **6,714 satellites** are actively providing high-speed internet and broadband access to remote areas around the globe, including regions with limited or no internet connectivity.
With **Starlink’s** satellite internet service poised to potentially revolutionize internet access in Pakistan, the country eagerly awaits the final approval from the government to make this service widely available.
