Elon Musk Predicts Bill Gates Could Go Bankrupt If Tesla Becomes the World’s Largest Company
New York: Elon Musk, the world’s richest person, has made a startling prediction about Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates’ financial future, sparking widespread discussion on the internet. Musk, who owns Tesla, SpaceX, and several other ventures, claimed that if Tesla were to become the world’s largest company, Gates could go bankrupt.
According to Musk, if Tesla’s stock were to increase by 200%, Gates would face financial ruin. This statement reignited the long-standing feud between Musk and Gates, which dates back to 2022 when Gates reportedly lost $1.5 billion due to a short position on Tesla’s shares.
Musk’s remark came in response to a post on X (formerly Twitter) by a user named “Tesla Economics,” who shared one of Musk’s previous tweets from 2023. In that tweet, Musk had stated that betting against Tesla, as Gates did, would only yield significant profits if Tesla were to fail.
Musk further alleged that Gates had placed a large bet against Tesla during a critical period for the company, hoping for its failure, which could have depressed the stock price and negatively affected ordinary investors.
In his post, Musk also commented, “As far as I know, Gates still holds that massive short position against Tesla. Someone should ask him if that’s true. It’s incredibly hypocritical and selfish for Gates, who has the audacity to ask me for donations for his environmental projects, to try to make $500 million off Tesla’s failure.”
Despite this public criticism, Bill Gates later apologized to Musk for the earlier controversy. However, it seems their rivalry continues to simmer. Recently, Musk’s fortune surpassed $400 billion, cementing his position as the richest person in the world.
