Elon Musk Makes $97.4 Billion Bid to Buy OpenAI

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has made a $97.4 billion offer to acquire OpenAI, the company behind the creation of ChatGPT. According to a report by *The Wall Street Journal*, Musk’s lawyer submitted the bid to OpenAI’s board of directors.
However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman rejected the offer, responding with a sarcastic remark on X (formerly Twitter), saying, “Thanks for the offer, but we’re not selling OpenAI. However, if you’d like, we’re open to selling Twitter for $9.74 billion.”
This comes after ongoing tensions between Musk and Altman, with Musk having filed lawsuits against OpenAI and Altman.
Musk co-founded OpenAI in 2015 with Sam Altman and Greg Brockman. However, in 2018, he distanced himself from the company, citing concerns that AI technology could become more dangerous than nuclear weapons.
Later, in 2023, Musk founded his own AI company, “xAI,” which is striving to make a significant impact in the field of artificial intelligence.
