Electricity Supply from Iran to Makran Reduced to 20 Megawatts, Triggers Additional Load Shedding
Pasni:The Makran division is facing severe disruptions as electricity supply from Iran has been reduced to a mere 20 megawatts, prompting a series of additional load shedding measures across various grids.
In a press release issued on Thursday morning, a spokesperson for KESCO (Quetta Electric Supply Company) confirmed that beginning at eleven o’clock, the flow of electricity from neighboring Iran to Makran has been curtailed. Currently, only 20 megawatts of electricity is being transmitted through the 132kV Jiqi Gor, Mand, and 132kV Polan, Jiwani transmission lines from Iran. This reduction in supply has necessitated additional load shedding in multiple areas within the Makran division.
The spokesperson assured that normalcy is expected to resume once there is an increase in electricity supply from Iran. Following this, the extra load shedding in Makran division areas will be immediately terminated. It was further noted that electricity supply to areas like Panjgur and Hoshab continues uninterrupted from the National Grid Station.
KESCO expressed regret for the inconvenience caused to consumers in Makran due to the additional load shedding and appealed for their cooperation during this challenging period.
