Islamabad:The Election Commission of Pakistan has formed eight election tribunals to hear electoral disputes in Punjab. A notification issued by the Commission confirmed that both current and retired judges have been appointed to these tribunals, following consultations with the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court.
According to the notification, specific judges have been assigned to various constituencies:
– **Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmed** will oversee disputes in Sialkot, Nankana, Sheikhupura, and some constituencies in Lahore.
– **Justice (R) Rana Zahid Mahmood** will handle other constituencies in Lahore.
– **Justice Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry** has been designated for Chiniot, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, and Hafizabad.
Additional tribunal assignments include:
– **Justice Anwar Hussain** for Pakpattan, Vehari, Kasur, Sahiwal, and Okara.
– **Justice (R) Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa** for Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, and Narowal.
– **Justice Sardar Sarfraz Dogar** will preside over disputes in Multan, Khanewal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Kot Addu, and Layyah.
– **Justice (R) Abdul Shakoor Paracha** has been appointed for Rawalpindi, Attock, Talagang, Jhelum, Murree, and Chakwal.
– **Justice (R) Zafar Iqbal** will handle disputes in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Lodhran, and Muzaffargarh.
This initiative aims to ensure timely and fair adjudication of electoral complaints in the province, reinforcing the electoral process’s integrity.
