Quetta:The Editor’s Council of Balochistan convened a significant session under the presidency of Anwar Sajidi, discussing crucial issues facing the newspaper industry, particularly print media. The meeting addressed the future advertisement budget allocations in the forthcoming fiscal year 2024-25, with the current coalition government of Balochistan expressing optimism about increasing allocations for advertisements.
Highlighting the challenges faced by the sole industry of print media in Balochistan amidst rising inflation, affecting both ordinary citizens and industry-affiliated workers, the council emphasized that an increase in advertisement budgets is akin to a lifeline for the print media. They commended this governmental initiative as a commendable step forward.
During the session, concerns were raised regarding the unfair distribution of advertisements, urging the relevant authorities within the Balochistan Public Relations Department to play a positive role in ensuring a fair policy implementation and distribution of advertisements. Representatives from various newspapers including Haji Syed Khalil ur Rahman from Daily Jang, Raza ur Rahman from Daily Express, Asif Baloch from Daily Azadi, Gulrez Khan from Daily Bakhabar, Nadir Hussain Zamarud from Daily Humat, and Anwar Naseer from Balochistan News participated actively in the discussions.
The council concluded with a call for ensuring transparency and fairness in advertisement distribution policies to sustain the vitality of the newspaper industry in Balochistan.
