Islamabad: Renowned economist Dr. Kaizer Bengali has advocated for the closure of 37 organizations that are no longer under federal jurisdiction. In a recent statement, Dr. Bengali emphasized the need to shut down these entities, arguing that they no longer serve a purpose.
He noted that while there was a decision to close only one organization, the Population Control Department, he believed there was no need for such an entity. Additionally, Dr. Bengali mentioned a plan to merge the Gems and Jewelry sector with Petroleum, rather than simply shutting down more organizations.
Dr. Bengali highlighted that closing 53 organizations could result in a saving of 33 billion rupees. He also pointed out that while there have been discussions about eliminating 150,000 jobs across levels 1 to 16, the issue of removing high-ranking officials has not been addressed. According to him, political decisions are often pre-determined before the formal discussions begin.
