Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhry Honored with Sheikh Zayed International Award for Contributions to Herbal Medicine
Abu Dhabi:Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhry, the Coordinator General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Standing Committee for Scientific and Technical Cooperation, has been awarded the prestigious Sheikh Zayed International Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of medicine, particularly in herbal medicine and educational excellence.
According to a press release issued by COMSTECH University on Sunday, Dr. Choudhry was awarded the *Sheikh Zayed International Traditional, Complementary, and Alternative Medicine (TCAM) Award* for his pioneering work in herbal medicine and his contributions to the advancement of education in health sciences.
The award ceremony was held at the Beach Rotana Hotel in Abu Dhabi, where Dr. Choudhry was acknowledged for his efforts in promoting traditional herbal medicines and his role in integrating modern health practices. The press release highlighted that this award not only recognizes his individual achievements but also underscores the growing importance of traditional medicines in modern healthcare approaches.
Dr. Choudhry has previously received numerous prestigious honors from the international scientific community, including Pakistan’s highest civil awards such as the *Hilal-i-Imtiaz*, *Sitara-i-Imtiaz*, and *Tamgha-i-Imtiaz*. He is well known globally, with accolades such as the *Friendship Award* and the *Golden Silk Ball Friendship Award* from China.
In addition to his groundbreaking work in herbal medicine, Dr. Choudhry serves as the Coordinator General of the OIC’s Standing Committee for Scientific and Technical Cooperation and as Vice President for Central and South Asia at the World Academy of Sciences. He is also a Fellow of several esteemed scientific institutions, including the Royal Society of Chemistry in London.
As further recognition of his services, Hunan University of Medicine in China recently named a newly inaugurated research building in his honor. This gesture reflects his significant contributions to health-related educational research and his ongoing impact on the global scientific community.
