Donald Trump Comments on TikTok Potentially Being Sold to Elon Musk

Following the approval of a law banning TikTok in the United States, rumors have been circulating that the popular social media app may be sold to Elon Musk. In this context, newly-elected U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed his opinion on the matter.
It is important to note that in April of the previous year, President Joe Biden signed a law that mandated TikTok to separate from its parent company, *ByteDance*, by January 19. If TikTok failed to comply, the app faced the possibility of being banned in the U.S. *ByteDance* is a Chinese company, and there are concerns in the U.S. about the Chinese government potentially influencing TikTok’s operations in the country.
However, upon assuming office, newly-elected President Donald Trump signed an executive order to delay the enforcement of this law for up to 75 days. Trump stated that during this period, he hoped to see a resolution between TikTok and the U.S. administration to prevent the app from facing a ban in the country.
Media reports have also emerged suggesting that Chinese officials are considering selling TikTok to American billionaire and Trump ally, Elon Musk. In response to a question about this matter, Donald Trump commented that if Elon Musk is interested in buying TikTok, he would be open to the idea. Trump added that if someone were to buy TikTok, he would expect them to offer half of the app’s ownership to the United States.
This marks the first time that Donald Trump has publicly commented on the potential sale of TikTok to his associate, Elon Musk.
