Islamabad: The district administration has granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) permission to hold a rally in Islamabad on August 22. The decision was communicated to the Islamabad High Court by the State Council.
The hearing was conducted in response to a contempt petition filed by the court for denying permission to PTI for holding the rally. Justices Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb and Justice Arbab Muhammad Taahir presided over the hearing, with PTI’s lawyers presenting their case.
PTI’s legal team stated that they had requested permission to protest on July 26. The court inquired about the grounds for contempt against its orders, to which the State Council responded that they had issued two orders.
The court clarified that PTI could hold protests at any location after August 20. The judge advised PTI’s lawyer that contempt of court charges were not applicable in this case and issued the relevant orders.
The court also remarked that disruptions in Faizabad are causing harm to the nation. Complete restrictions are imposed on protests at D-Chowk. How many people lost their lives in the previous Faizabad sit-ins?
The court mentioned that the government party will seek permission to hold a rally in the plain, but this cannot only happen in opposition. Have you allowed protests in the park?
The court concluded with the remark, “A park is a park; keep it as a park.”
