Dispute Over Shop Ownership in Pakpattan Turns Fatal as Youth Dies in Petrol Attack
Lahore: A dispute over shop ownership in Pakpattan turned deadly when suspects allegedly set a young man on fire by pouring petrol on him. According to police, the victim, identified as Abbas, succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital following the incident on Hospital Road in Pakpattan.
The tragic incident sparked protests outside the hospital gate, where relatives demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in Abbas’s death. Responding to the outcry, Punjab Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar took notice and instructed Sahiwal Regional Police Officer to file a report, while the District Police Officer of Pakpattan was ordered to ensure the suspects’ prompt arrest.
“The perpetrators of such heinous crimes deserve no leniency; strict legal action will be taken,” stated IG Punjab, emphasizing on utilizing all resources for the swift apprehension of the suspects.
According to a spokesperson of Punjab Police, the suspects allegedly ignited the fire during a dispute over shop ownership, prompting the immediate registration of a case against them and ongoing efforts to arrest them.
Later, acting on the orders of IG Punjab, police arrested three suspects including Iqbal Dogar in connection with the murder. According to DPO Tariq Waliyat, the ongoing investigation into the youth’s death, amidst a dispute between two factions over shop ownership, will ensure justice based on factual evidence and post-mortem reports.
