Discovery of Excessive Fluoride in Quetta’s Water Shocks Government, Investigation Underway

Quetta:The Balochistan government has formed an investigative committee to examine the excessive levels of fluoride in Quetta’s water. The provincial Public Health Engineering Minister announced measures to ensure the supply of clean drinking water for the public.
A report from a private TV station revealed that Quetta’s water contains elevated levels of fluoride, often referred to as a “hidden poison,” leading to bone-related diseases in the population. In response, the Balochistan Public Health Engineering Department has taken action by establishing a committee. The 5-member committee, led by the Managing Director of Wasa, includes experts on water quality. The committee will conduct a detailed, scientific investigation into the water quality in Quetta and assess the high levels of fluoride.
The committee has been tasked with collecting water samples from affected areas for analysis, investigating fluoride levels, natural factors, agricultural chemicals, sewage, poultry farm waste, and other possible contributing factors. They are expected to submit a comprehensive report within four weeks.
Provincial Public Health Engineering Minister Sardar Abdul Rehman Khetran stated that any negligence regarding water quality will not be tolerated. He assured that appropriate actions will be taken based on the findings of the investigation to ensure the public receives clean and safe drinking water.
