Rawalpindi:Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), addressed a press conference focused on national security matters, detailing the steps taken against internal security threats and terrorism.
General Chaudhry refuted claims of state oppression and deprivation in Balochistan, asserting that such narratives are propagated by a small group with external motivations. “Balochistan is our pride and honor,” he stated, emphasizing that external strategies and ideologies are behind the false narratives being promoted.
He highlighted that terrorists exploit feelings of deprivation to further their agendas, but assured that the state would tackle those undermining Balochistan’s development with a firm hand. He noted that innocent civilians in Balochistan have been targeted, and that the region receives substantial financial support, including 256 billion rupees in royalties, with 80% of the workforce on development projects being from Balochistan.
General Chaudhry underscored that Pakistan’s fight against terrorism is guided by an approved and coordinated strategy involving various political parties, stakeholders, and governments. This strategy, detailed in documents such as the National Action Plan and its revised version, Aazm-e-Istiqbaal, includes a four-phase approach: Clear, Hold, Build, and Transfer. He urged a deeper understanding of the current terrorism trends to effectively address and counter the evolving threats.
