Quetta:In a significant meeting held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar chaired discussions on peace and development projects in Balochistan. The meeting was attended by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Member of National Assembly Mir Ijaz Jakhrani, Balochistan provincial ministers, and senior officials.
Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sardar Faraz Bugti, highlighted the provincial government’s priorities, including improvements in education and health. He emphasized that governance reforms are underway to strengthen the relationship between the state and its citizens. Bugti also announced the launch of scholarship programs for Ph.D. science students at 200 top global universities and special scholarships for minorities and transgender communities.
Bugti expressed concerns about the limited federal funds allocated for approved development projects, warning that if the current funding ratio persists, the completion of these projects could be delayed for decades. He stressed the need for a strong federal commitment and practical steps to bring Balochistan on par with other provinces.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar assured that the federal government is committed to resolving Balochistan’s issues and ensuring the province receives its rightful share of resources. Dar acknowledged the challenging economic situation but remained optimistic about Pakistan’s future, pledging to guide the country towards sustainable development through dedicated effort and strategic planning.
In his remarks, Dar affirmed that the federal government would collaborate with all stakeholders to address Balochistan’s problems and promote its development. National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will soon undertake a detailed visit to Balochistan to consult with stakeholders and work towards enhancing the quality of life and development in the province.
