Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar Chairs Meeting on Balochistan’s Security and Development

Quetta:A meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar, was held on Tuesday at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Quetta to discuss security and development projects in Balochistan. The meeting was attended by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, MNA Mir Ijaz Jakhrani, provincial ministers of Balochistan, and senior officials.

Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti highlighted the provincial government’s focus on improving education and healthcare, emphasizing that governance reforms are being implemented to strengthen the trust between the state and its people. He announced a new scholarship program for PhD science students to study at 200 of the world’s top universities, as well as special scholarships for minorities and the transgender community.

Bugti also expressed concerns about the limited release of funds for federally approved development projects, warning that if this trend continues, completion of these projects could take decades. He stressed the need for the federal government to demonstrate a firm commitment and take practical steps to bring Balochistan on par with other provinces.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar assured that the federal government is committed to addressing Balochistan’s issues, stating that despite economic challenges, Pakistan’s future is bright. He reiterated that the country was created to endure, and those who betrayed it faced their end. Dar emphasized that while short-term economic difficulties persist, sustained effort and strong resolve will put Pakistan on a path of sustainable development. He promised a comprehensive roadmap for long-term planning and vowed to collaborate with all stakeholders to resolve Balochistan’s issues.

At the end of the meeting, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq announced that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will soon undertake a detailed visit to Balochistan to consult with stakeholders and address the province’s issues. He assured that efforts to enhance Balochistan’s development and improve the quality of life for its people will be intensified.
