Bhaag:Political, social, and community circles in Balochistan have urged the provincial authorities to extend the holidays for schools in the hot regions of the province until August. Currently, school holidays in the hot regions are scheduled to end on July 31, amidst intense summer heat. With 70% of the population residing in these scorching areas, severe heat and prolonged power outages have forced many residents to migrate temporarily to cooler regions.
Concerns have been raised over the lack of facilities and extreme temperatures impacting attendance in schools. Given the absence of adequate amenities and the intense heat, stakeholders argue for an extension of school holidays until August to ensure the safety and well-being of students and teachers.
The demand comes in light of persistent high temperatures after the monsoon rains, exacerbated by the lack of reliable electricity supply in hot regions. Residents fear that the current conditions may lead to reduced attendance in schools and pose risks to the health and safety of students and teachers alike.
