Defence Minister Khawaja Asif Anticipates Key Decisions in National Security Parliamentary Committee Meeting

Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that important decisions are expected in today’s meeting of the National Security Parliamentary Committee. Speaking on a private TV channel, he mentioned that the meeting would address the issue of missing persons, highlighting that many individuals involved in terrorism, some residing abroad, are included in the list of missing persons.
Khawaja Asif also criticized the appointment of former Justice Javed Iqbal as the chairman of the Missing Persons Commission, calling it a “compromised” decision. He questioned the intentions of those who appointed him, suggesting that it reflected a lack of seriousness, as Iqbal had previously chaired multiple commissions, including those related to Sialala and missing persons.
The Defence Minister further stated that many individuals with ties to subversive activities, once released, had returned to their old ways. He claimed that the number of missing persons is not very large, and many of them are involved in terrorism. While acknowledging the significance of the missing persons issue, Khawaja Asif questioned the sincerity of those dealing with the matter, especially in relation to Balochistan.
The in-camera meeting of the National Security Parliamentary Committee, convened by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is scheduled to take place today at 11 AM in the National Assembly Hall. The meeting will be chaired by Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq.
