DeepSec Suspends API Services Due to Server Traffic Issues

DeepSec, the Chinese AI startup, has temporarily suspended its API services due to server issues caused by an overwhelming amount of traffic. APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) are platforms that help developers connect their AI models and are used to interact with server-side systems for retrieving or updating data for applications.

Over the past two weeks, DeepSec has faced server problems due to excessive traffic. The company introduced its AI model last month, claiming that it is similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT and other similar models, but at a lower cost. This AI model was made available as an app on Google and Apple stores at the beginning of this month.

DeepSec has quickly gained popularity, and has even become the top-rated free application on Apple’s App Store in the US, UK, and China, surpassing competitors like ChatGPT.

In the meantime, U.S. lawmakers are preparing to introduce a bill to ban the Chinese-made DeepSec chatbot on government devices due to concerns over data security. U.S. media outlets report that there are fears in the U.S. that China may have access to user data through this AI application.

The emergence of DeepSec has caused a stir in Silicon Valley, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged it as a very advanced model, calling it a major geopolitical competition where China is making rapid progress.
