Death Toll Rises as Powerful Earthquake Strikes Myanmar

The death toll from the powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar has continued to rise, reaching 694 fatalities, while the number of injured individuals has now surpassed 1,670.

The earthquake, which hit Myanmar on Friday, also caused noticeable tremors in neighboring Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. The shocks led to the collapse of towering buildings within moments, creating a scene of widespread devastation.

According to reports, Myanmar experienced two consecutive earthquakes with magnitudes of 7.7 and 6.4 on Friday. The U.S. Geological Survey confirmed that the epicenter of the 7.7 magnitude quake was located 10 kilometers beneath the surface of Myanmar. The tremors were felt across the region, amplifying the ongoing tragedy.
