DC Quetta Saad bin Asad Highlights Efforts to Provide Relief and Combat Price Gouging, Encroachments, and Traffic Issues

QUETTA:Deputy Commissioner (DC) Quetta, Lt. (R) Saad bin Asad, has stated that the Price Control Committee has inspected over 3,000 shops in the city to provide relief to the public and prevent price gouging and hoarding. As a result, 176 shops were sealed, and 200 shopkeepers were arrested, with 80 of them being sent to jail.
In addition, actions were taken against encroachments along Saryab Road, Kandahari Bazaar, Resani Road, Zarghoon Road, and National Park Hazarganji, resulting in the arrest of 20 individuals. The DC announced that all crushing plants in the city have been completely shut down to address environmental pollution.
A crackdown against poultry and milk sellers is also underway, helping stabilize the prices of poultry and milk in the market. In response to traffic issues, a campaign against illegal rickshaws and old buses has led to the closure of 75 rickshaws and 10 buses.
Talking to the media, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized that various teams have been formed to ensure relief to the public and take strict action against price manipulators. Assistant Commissioners and Special Magistrates in all tehsils are conducting daily inspections and submitting reports.
Saad bin Asad also shared that the operation against encroachments has been expedited. Additionally, in compliance with the Balochistan High Court’s orders, all crushing plants have been permanently closed, and their equipment has been confiscated, resulting in a reduction of pollution in the city.
Regarding transportation, the district administration, along with the Regional Transport Authority, is conducting daily raids against illegal rickshaws and outdated buses, improving the city’s traffic system.
To facilitate the public, the DC has streamlined the process for issuing Local and Domicile certificates, with nearly 1,500 certificates being issued last month. Furthermore, computerized weapons licenses are being issued, and Local and Domicile certificates will soon be linked with the NADRA database for easier access.
Saad bin Asad concluded by highlighting the Green Bus service, which has been introduced for the convenience of Quetta’s residents, providing efficient transportation for thousands of commuters daily. He assured that the monitoring and completion of ongoing development projects in Quetta will be ensured at all costs.
