Rawalpindi: A date of October 2 has been set for the indictment of the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the Toshakhana-II case. The hearing on their bail applications concluded, with arguments from the prosecution expected to begin tomorrow.
Special Judge Central, Shahrukh Arjumand, announced the date for the indictment related to the acquisition of valuable jewelry from a Bulgarian company. Both defendants were present in court alongside their lawyer, Barrister Suleman Safdar, during yesterday’s proceedings held at Adiala Jail.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) team, led by lawyers Zulfiqar Abbas Naqvi and Umair Majid, represented the prosecution. The court has postponed further proceedings on the bail applications until September 28.
The Toshakhana reference alleges that the former chairman and his wife unlawfully obtained jewelry from the Toshakhana at a significantly reduced price, later selling it in the market. The jewelry set is valued at 75 million PKR and includes a luxury necklace and other items.
Notably, the NAB had arrested both individuals on July 13 of this year in connection with this case.
