Crackdown on Electricity Theft Yields Over PKR 118 Billion in Recoveries, Thousands Arrested
Islamabad: A nationwide crackdown on electricity theft has resulted in recoveries exceeding PKR 118 billion and the arrest of over 85,000 offenders. As part of efforts to revive the economy, the government is actively combating electricity theft to alleviate the ongoing energy crisis.
In recent weeks, authorities collected more than PKR 3 billion from electricity thieves in major cities including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Islamabad, Multan, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Quetta. During the past week alone, 687 individuals were apprehended for electricity theft.
Relevant agencies are committed to continuing their operations until electricity theft is completely eradicated across the country.
