QUETTA: Authorities in Balochistan have intensified operations against electricity thieves and defaulters in various districts. According to Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) officials, operations have been accelerated in Quetta, Pishin, Loralai, Sibi, Khuzdar, and Makran circles.
Yesterday, requests for legal actions against 12 electricity thieves were submitted at various police stations across the province. During a special campaign, 66 domestic connections causing overloading and reduced meter readings, along with 5 commercial and 2 agricultural connections, were checked and fined accordingly.
Authorities reported that during the 24-hour operation, electricity thieves were charged for stealing a total of 23,385 units, amounting to approximately PKR 1,276,000. An amount of PKR 1,232,000 has been recovered in fines and detection charges from electricity thefts yesterday.
According to QESCO officials, a total of PKR 6,190,000 has been recovered from approximately 465 defaulters, including domestic, commercial, and industrial consumers, due to non-payment of bills. QESCO teams have also disconnected 581 connections of various defaulters due to non-payment of bills.
