Crackdown on Dumpers in Karachi: 142 Fined, 27 Seized

Karachi: In a major operation against traffic violations, Karachi traffic police launched a late-night crackdown on dumpers on Shahrah-e-Faisal, resulting in 142 challans (fines) and the on-the-spot seizure of 27 vehicles. One driver was also arrested, and a case was registered under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance 1965 (Sections 99/113).
According to details, the action was triggered after a video went viral on social media showing a dumper driver speeding recklessly on Shahrah-e-Faisal. Despite repeated attempts by a patrolling car to stop him, the driver ignored the signals and fled the scene.
Following the incident, all dumper associations were instructed to immediately hand over the dumper and the driver involved to the police. However, according to the traffic police spokesperson, Dumper Association President Liaqat Mehsud and other representatives initially asked for time but later reneged on their commitment.
In response to this breach of agreement, traffic police launched a large-scale operation last night, issuing 142 challans and seizing 27 dumpers. One driver was taken into custody, and legal action has been initiated.
The spokesperson stated that the crackdown will continue until the driver and vehicle involved in the viral video are handed over to authorities. “No one is above the law, and everyone must bow before it,” the spokesperson added.
