Corruption Allegations Emerge Against Khuzdar Education Officer as Social Activist Demands Immediate Investigation
Khuzdar:Social activist Mir Ahmad Mengal has urged the Balochistan government and the Minister of Education to take immediate notice of serious irregularities and alleged corruption involving the District Education Officer (DEO) of Khuzdar. Mengal highlighted that candidates who successfully passed the merit-based exams were being charged between 5,000 to 6,000 rupees each for the verification of their educational certificates. This practice, which has affected a large number of candidates, has led to an estimated collection of over 3 million rupees.
Mengal stressed that this act is not only a violation of departmental regulations but also undermines the principles of merit and transparency. After reports of this malpractice surfaced on social media and complaints were lodged within the department, the DEO and his supporters allegedly began pressuring candidates to remain silent about the issue.
Candidates who have been affected are reportedly outraged and are willing to testify before any forum to expose the irregularities. Local residents of Khuzdar are questioning why their district continues to face such issues, and why their grievances are being ignored.
Mengal has called for the formation of a high-level committee to conduct a transparent investigation into the matter, ensure the return of the illegal fees collected, and take legal action against the DEO and his associates. He further demanded the immediate removal of the DEO from his position, urging the Balochistan government to safeguard the rights of the people of Khuzdar and take strong measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The residents of Khuzdar and the affected candidates are hoping that the provincial government will address this issue promptly and implement decisive actions to ensure justice.
