Congress Leader Shama Mohammad Faces Backlash Over Comment on Rohit Sharma’s Weight

Congress leader Shama Mohammad has come under fire after referring to Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma as “overweight” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). In her post, she criticized Sharma, claiming that he was the “least impressive” captain of India due to his weight.

Following the backlash, Shama Mohammad clarified that her comment was merely about the fitness of a player and not an act of body-shaming. She explained that she believes players should be fit, and she felt Sharma’s weight was on the higher side.

Shama Mohammad further stated that she was being criticized without reason, as her post was a comparison of Sharma with other Indian captains, which she considered her right to do.

In response to the controversy, the Congress party distanced itself from Shama Mohammad’s remarks and instructed her to delete the post. She complied, removing the post from her account.
