Quetta:Munir Ahmed Kakar, a member of the Pakistan Bar Council from Quetta, has expressed serious concerns over recent judicial appointments, despite the Supreme Court reaching its full complement of judges. Kakar criticized the appointments of ad-hoc judges as detrimental to constitutional principles, alleging they undermine the judicial system’s integrity and independence.
In a statement directed towards the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Kakar emphasized that these appointments compromise the judiciary’s role as the guardian of the constitution, accusing them of being politically motivated maneuvers. He stressed that the Pakistan Bar Council vehemently opposes such actions, asserting their duty to uphold the rule of law.
Kakar, speaking as a council member, condemned the appointment of ad-hoc judges, citing them as a threat to the judicial system’s functionality. He praised the principled decision of former Chief Justice Munir Alam to reject an ad-hoc judgeship, highlighting it as commendable and worthy of emulation.
He further underscored that circumventing constitutional mandates with ad-hoc appointments undermines the judiciary’s foundational role, cautioning against any attempts to politicize the judiciary at the expense of constitutional integrity.
